In 2003, Dr. Ifechide Nwabueze (Dr. Ife) graduated from the University of Benin in Nigeria. Her degree in dental surgery helped her to start her career working at the Army hospital in Nigeria as a general dentist, gaining professional experience in pediatrics, orthodontics, oral restoration, surgery, and periodontics. It was during this time at the Army hospital that she discovered her passion for working with children!

Upon successful completion of her pediatric residency training, Dr. Ife worked as an associate in Dr. Amy Parker's pediatric dental practice and also in Children's Dental Care all in Michigan.

Sedation Dentistry Specialists For Your Children near Royal Oak

There are times when traditional approaches to treatment are insufficient to calm or soothe an extremely apprehensive or fearful child. Children who have experienced an unpleasant visit at the dentist may develop a phobia that can be carried over into adulthood and can lead to neglect of his/her oral health. The good news is that this fear can be reversed and children can actually develop a positive perception of going to the dentist regardless of negative past experiences.

Children's Dental Specialists' goal is to provide all our patients warm, compassionate, and quality dental care. We believe that by providing treatment in a gentle and caring manner, we can instill confidence and a lasting positive impression of dental care in your child. We offer many treatment options, including oral sedation and hospital dentistry at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, tailored to the individual needs of our young patients and parents.

If your child has continual problems with cavities, bleeding gums, or other oral issues, it could affect how well they can eat and bring on malnutrition rather quickly. Dental problems can also lead to speech that isn't that easy to understand. By teaching your child how to care for his or her teeth, you and the pediatric dentist can head off a lot of potential problems in other areas of the child's life.

Children's Cavity Treatment Dentists Near Royal Oak

If your child's original baby teeth or adult teeth have cavities that are too close (or even touching) the nerve tissue, the tooth may require something called pulpal therapy. There are a few options that may happen; a pulpotomy (a removal of the infected nerve tissue that leaves the healthy portion of tissue left), a pulpectomy (removal of the entire nerve tissue from the affected canals), or a root canal. If your child is suffering from any of these symptoms, their cavity may require pulpal therapy:

  • An abscess (or a pimple) on the gums near the teeth
  • Hot & cold sensitivity
  • Tooth and gum pain
  • Swelling and/or tenderness

Children's Teeth Cleaning Experts For Your Family

Getting your children to the dentist can be a challenge, but we make it fun for your family to come see our dental team! We give your children a safe place that makes their teeth cleaning as painless and quick as possible.

We recommend a professional cleaning and fluoride application every 6 months to help protect the teeth and gums. For patients considered high-risk by the dentist for developing dental decay, a cleaning every 3 or 4 months may be considered. This is due to your children's developing teeth and gums. We want to make sure they're protected and healthy for years to come!
